Do not look back
Acrylic on canvas, 100x130 cm, 2022.
This series of paintings featuring a cartoonish black cat presents a collection of visual riddles—scenes frozen in the final second before a catastrophe. Every character is steeped in a state of calm and quiet contemplation, oblivious to the impending chaos. The black cat stands as the sole intruder, a disruptor of this harmony and boundless pastoral peace.
The tragedy lies in the characters' blindness to the black cat’s presence, even as its destructive actions have already taken hold. They remain suspended in a false sense of peace, unaware that the foundation of their world has already been shattered.
This series interrogates the very nature of reality: which is more 'real'—the black cat or the world it inhabits? Modern media often constructs a distorted reality, presenting information through a skewed lens. Frequently, this manufactured image becomes more vivid and tangible in the human imagination than the physical world itself.
