Unstoppable freedom
The presented canvas is part of the foundational series "Paradise," initiated by the artist in 2016 and first exhibited at the Lavra Gallery in Kyiv. In this iteration, Olga Selyshcheva approaches the image of the Garden of Eden not as a static place of tranquility, but as a dynamic space poised on the brink of inevitable change.
Vibrant parrots set against a golden disc evoke the traditions of Baroque emblematics. Their symmetrical confrontation creates
a sense of "inner tension," where beauty borders on anxiety.
The contrast between the intense blue of the birds, the golden disc, and the absorbing black background emphasizes the drama of the moment. Butterflies scattered throughout the space symbolize the ephemerality and transformation of the soul.
